Minority Scholarship Fund Honors Memory of Ming Thomas

A new Minority Student Scholarship Fund honors the memory of Ming Thomas, a former Greenwood Friends School student who died of systemic lupus erythematosus in February 1996.

Ming, born in Korea, was the adopted daughter of Naoma and Paul Thomas of Bloomsburg.

Ming spent her elementary and middle school years at Greenwood, from 1979 to 1987. During her school career here, and for all the years afterwards, we called her our friend with heartfelt sincerity. Ming's kind and gentle manner and her smile touched everyone. Ming faced many challenges in her life gracefully and with sympathy for others.

The fund was inaugurated during Alumni Day, held at the school on September 26, 1996. A ceremony that day honored Ming, three other alumni, and a former teacher who have died.

Donations made to the new scholarship fund will help to provide financial support for other minority students at GFS.
