Alumni and former staff members returned to GFS on Thursday, September 26, 1996. They had a chance to visit classes and enjoy a pizza lunch. And they helped us to officially dedicate our new Musical Bridge with a piece created just for the occasion by Mary Knysh and all her music students. The day gave us a chance to remember a former teacher and four students who have died. The teacher, Jeannie Miller, was killed in a motorcycle crash in Wyoming early in September 1996. At the luncheon, we inaugurated our Minority Scholarship in memory of Ming Thomas. This was the first time we scheduled an alumni event on a school day. That gave alums a chance to meet more old friends and gave all of us a chance to see our former students and remember those we have lost in the 18 years since GFS opened.
