More than a decade after he graduated from Greenwood Friends School, Mike Wamser came back. Now a rising young actor based in New York, he returned to Bloomsburg to play Romeo in the BTE production of Romeo and Juliet from October 11 to November 3, 2002.

When Mike first attended GFS, it was known as the Community Friends School. "My first taste of the stage," he recalls, "was in the Community Friends School spring show, 'Johnny Appleseed,' followed the next year by 'William Penn.'"

He began working with the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble while still at GFS, and did more acting during his years at Bloomsburg High School. In his junior year at BHS, he says, he decided to make acting his life. He pursued acting studies in college and graduate school, and has had roles in a variety of productions in many parts of the country. On stage, he uses his full name, Shannon Michael Wamser.

In a letter to friends at GFS, Mike wrote:

Eight years after my graduation from BHS and with dozens of shows and two degrees under my belt, I am back in the arms of the community that shaped me. I have had all sorts of experiences and worked all over the country, but this is, to me, a culmination.

Thank you for my early encouragement, and for all your support, as audience members, over the course of the run of Romeo and Juliet.
