The PROGRAM for Female Offenders, Inc.

" Dedicated to Rebuilding Lives "
Our Mission

Juvenile Intensive In-Home Programming & Services

Juvenile Intensive In-Home Programming and Services is a case management project designed to provide community-based alternatives to incarceration. The program enables clients to receive individualized programming and services in their homes and assists them with their goals and achievements.

"In-Home" program has two components: Treatment Alternative Program & Detention Alternative Program. Both of these programs focus mainly on teenagers ranging in age from 10 to 18 years who are on probation. Agency project staff closely monitor and advise clients in all aspects of their lives. They help clients with homework and teach life skills while providing discipline and boundaries that may not have previously existed. If the client is in need of help, the case Manager will contact or refer them to closely with probation officers, the family, and school to ensure the clients complete success.

This program will prevent the development of a new generation of adult offenders and reduce the inter-generational cycle of welfare dependence.

The Juvenile Intensive In-Home Programming and Services for Female Juvenile Offenders is reflective of the principles of Pennsylvania's new juvenile justice philosophy - a balanced and restorative justice approach.

Saturday Sessions

The goal of the Saturday Session Program is to create an atmosphere where mothers who are involved with The PROGRAM for Female Offenders, can come and learn positive interaction with their child(en) under the guidance and supervision of staff and volunteers.

The families meet on a Saturday for six weeks (six sessions). We want each mother to realize the value of having a good education and recognize the need for their child(ren) to have one.

This program was established to encourage and support mothers become clients of the agency or have had a "brush" with the law to take an active role in their child's life both at home and in school. Mother who have had a "brush" with the law is one of the criteria needed for their families to receive the services provided by The PROGRAM for Female Offenders, Inc. the children enrolled in the program range in ages from birth to eighteen.

All activities are planned and implemented by staff with constant input from the parents themselves. Field trips bring the children and their mothers a cultural awareness and familiarity with Harrisburg and its cultural opportunities. The activities that are planned utilize a team approach.
