Choconut Creek Watershed Association

The Choconut Creek flows north through Choconut Township in Pennsylvania to Vestal, NY where it enters the Susquehanna River. The watershed includes in Pennsylvania the townships of Choconut, Silver Lake, Forest Lake, and Apolacon and in New York, the town of Vestal.

The association seeks to preserve the high quality of the Choconut Creek, and to reduce flooding and erosion, and is sponsored by Choconut Township.

News: We got another Pa Growing Greener Grant.  On August 7, 2002, Governor Mark Schweiker announced nearly $34.2 million in Year 4 Growing Greener Grants.   Choconut Creek Watershed Association received a grant for $118,500 to design and permit a natural stream restoration for the creek south of the Choconut School.  See  Year 4 Grant Request.

The grant request was based on a watershed assessment.  See why the grant was justified.

Last year, on July 25, 2001, Governor Tom Ridge announced Year Three Growing Greener Grants.  Choconut Township received two grants on behalf of the newly formed Choconut Creek Watershed Association. A grant for $152,332 was awarded for a Natural Stream Restoration Project. $65,244.00 was given to complete a watershed assessment. In Year Two, the association received a startup grant.
