There is a BUNCH of geocaches in Lackawanna State Park,
and that's nice, because you need to sort of get off the beaten path
to really appreciate the park, which is otherwise somewhat, well...
too civilized.

And this one was a nice,
if somewhat short, stroll through some hemlock woods (don't drink
the juice). Hemlocks are kinda dirty trees, but they smell nice
after a rain, and make for that special effect of walking through
dark woods with the prospect of a sunlit clearing just ahead. |

A pleasant cache, I sent
the Happy Star travel bug that I retrieved from Rickett's Glen along
on her tour of PA state parks. BTW, that "No Hunting"
thing? Doesn't apply to caches. (I hope!) |

One of the other nice things about this walk
is that you could come out a different way from how you went in,
so you didn't have to retrace your steps. Like the fish in the
fishbowl, every turn brought something new to see.
And a little detour opened up onto a delightfully
wild swampy sort of place...

So green - even in the drought! But some of the
trees kinda got too much water, and drowned! Too much of
a good thing. |

There are several more caches
hidden in Lackawanna State Park, and if they all afford such a
pleasant walk, the rewards will be great indeed. Thanks to sherlockholmes,
cachier extraordinaire!
