The cache page says, "You will find the remains
of a long ago homestead and many indications of the apparent passion
the owner must have had for gardens."
Well, I guess so! The entry to the site is an
old stone gate, barely perceptable under all the growth.
|

|
| And you realize you are about to enter
some strange place when you follow the driveway (carriage path?) along
a stone wall until you encounter what must have once been an enchanting
garden pond, complete with lilly pads. |

Alas, no frogs would let me get close enough for a
portrait. |
 |
| I did come across this little guy, though.
Can you see him? |
 |
 |
| If not, click on his picture. ;-) |
As wonderful as that pond was, I had
a cache to find. On with the hunt! |
 |
Another mysterious used-to-be garden path led across
a bridge to a beautiful clearing, complete with apple trees! |
 |
| Well, to make a long story short (the
tree cover was hampering the GPS view of the satellites), I finally
found it, quite near this tree that had all its bark stripped. The
cache page does mention a bear sighting... |
...and if he did this,
I'm glad we didn't meet!
 |
 |
| These woods are full of delights, large and
small... and colorful! |
 |
|
|
| A bizarre fungus, the first step on
A Stairway To Heaven! |
 |
 |
| Time to move along. But mysteries remain.
Passing again through that clearing, I came upon Gennaro. The
cache
page says Joann is here somewhere too, but I didn't find her.
One wonders who they were, or if this footing were part of a great
mansion.. |

With thanks to MtnDave for a nice visit to a mysterious
place!
