Laura  -  Thank you for trying to get them transfers, I appreciate your effort.  Mr. Beebe does understand that he would have to transfer on his own he just wanted some direction or suggestions on the least expensive private car transfers available in Genoa and we thought since that is your headquarters some contact at Costa would be able to provide us with some direction on that . I personally don't know or have a list of transfer co. that could pick him up at Genoa airport and transfers him to the pier.  Do you have any contacts in Genoa that can advise us which transfer company are available and what would be the least expensive.??

Hi Shelia.....I have tried everything. I even called up a friend that works for Auto Europe to see how much a transfer would cost one way and it would be about $245 US.  They don;t have any other times to do the transfer because I guess not that many people fly into Genoa. People usually fly into Milan... ANYWAY...I am not sure where to go from here. I have tried to bring it to the attention of the Department heads and it looks like MR. & Mrs.. BeeBe are going to have to find their own transportation.  I am told that Had they purchased their air from us, then it would have been our responsibility to get them to the port. Since they purchased their own air, it is not our responsibility.  I think there best bet is to hire a private car to take them from the air port to the pier. I am sure AAA has some kind of service that can accommodate them....  I would avoid the train because it might be too much stress. At least with a car, they can relax and get to the ship early.  To get back their money that was paid for the transfer initially, please call our reservations department to get the full refund.

I apologize for all the trouble and I wish Mr. & Mrs. Beebe a fantastic Journey.  I am sure they will have a lovely time..... It is a beautiful Cruise.

Sheila,
I sent a note to Costa ("Cc:" you on the note) requesting a change for the scheduled  transportation pickup at the Genoa airport.  I'll wait and see what they tell me  before  I  start sending my  big  guns after them.  Below is some information  I found on transportation from the Genoa airport.

From:
http://st.itim.unige.it/venue/venue.html

It is possible to use Volabus Shuttle for reaching the Genoa International Airport "Cristoforo Colombo" in order to reach P.PrincipeGenova Railway Station
and then proceed by train to Savona (or to use taxi (~80 Euro)).

Trains require about 45 min to connect Genoa and Savona; from Railstationthere are buses and taxi for reaching the DIP Sites.

Savona is Located 30 km (18 miles) west of Genoa on the coast, whileBergeggi is about 4 km west of Savona still on the coast.

Genoa Airport Info:

>From the Genoa airport we can take the #100 bus to Principe Railway Station and then catch the train to Savona. This would be about 1.5 to 2 hours (bus and train), we would then need to take a taxi from the Savona train station to the dock (about 2 miles).

Train Schedules:
The following is from http://www.trenitalia.com/home/en/index.html (on-line train schedule)

Genova by Plane   by Carletto76

Airplane

Getting TO/AROUND:
Cristoforo Colombo airport (GOA) is very close to the city, and really among the water! Landing in Genova is really exciting, the planes fly from Portofino to the airport along the whole lengh of Genova, with a terrific view if you seat on the right side of the plane!
The airport is connected to the city centre by bus (number 100) or taxis. There are no train stations right there, just a couple not so close and not in a great zone.
There are regular flights to/from London (BA, RyanAir), Paris (AirFrance), Munich (AirDolomiti/Lufthansa) and domestic flights to/from Rome, Milan, Naples, Catania and Palermo.
To get there by car take the motorway at Genova Ovest and the follow the direction "Ventimiglia". After few minutes you will reach the exit "Genova Aeroporto".

>From Cristoforo Colombo airport bus #100 runs to Stazione Pricipe every 1/2 hour, it costs just ˆ2.07 and takes around 25 mins - good value. Buy the ticket from the driver and don't forget to validate it in the yellow box.

Getting TO/AROUND:
In the good old days you could get a local bus to the centre of Genoa for the normal bus fare.

You still can on line 151, but you have to change elsewhere in town to make the connection.

In common with most other airports in the world, the dedicated service is higher-priced and not connected (on the smae ticket) to the other forms of public transport.

At least at 3 euro per person it's not a rip-off.

The bus that is currently used (winter 2004) is a bit on the small side - we had to wait an extra 20 minutes as the bus following the arrival of a Ryanair flight was packed by the time we made it to the outside of the terminal.
