to honor and remember Carlisle Indian School students since the school closed in 1918.

MISSION STATEMENT:
 The purpose of the gathering is to recognize the historical significance of the Carlisle Indian School and the American Indian School movement, and to promote understanding and good will through a series of culturally diverse activities.  By sharing and promoting the ideals of Native American Society in conjunction with the hospitality of the host community we will remember our relatives, veterans and friends.

This event was sponsored by the 250th Anniversary Committee of Cumberland County.

        "Powwow 2000: Remembering Carlisle Indian School" received support
through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state
agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National
Endowment for the Arts.
