Do you have what it takes by your chart, to become a successful TV Talk Show Host?

Using the internet and the Astrodatabank, I selected ten world class USA TV talk show hosts, and made an attempt to look at common features of the charts of all of them. The hosts were: Arsenio Hall, Phil Donahue, Oprah Winfrey, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Larry King, Johnny Carson, Dick Cavett, Jay Leno, and Jack Paar.

I used Cosmodyne technology to look at the top three power planets, power houses, and power signs, and the top three most harmonic planets, houses, and signs. I also looked at the top three most harmonic and most power aspects in each chart to see if there were any common threads among the aspects themselves and the planets aspected. Finally I looked at the house quadruplicity grouping of Life/Wealth/Friends-Associates/Psychic-underlying issues.

I did find some common signatures among the 10 hosts. Certainly 10 hosts is not enough for any kind of real study, but then there were the ten who have had major positions in US TV late night for the past 30 years, the ones who rose to the top so to speak.

So what did I find? If you want to be a TV talk show host, what should you be looking for in your chart?

First……Planets.

Amazingly I discovered a prominence of PLUTO in the top three of the power planets in the charts. 50% of the hosts had Pluto in the top three. The Sun and Mercury were also in the top three. In regards to harmony, Jupiter and Venus were quite prominent in the top three.

In regard to houses, 80 % of the hosts had the first house in the top three houses. 50% of them had the tenth house in the top three power houses. In regards to harmony there were no Standouts. However, only one host had the first house in the top three of the harmony houses, only 2 the second house, and none had the third house.

In regards to Signs, There were no clear favorites in POWER. However, 50 % had Taurus in the top three of the harmony, and 40% had Libra.

In regard to the quadruplicates, its safe to say that if you are planning at making it as a talk show host, you will need to have either of two focuses in life: either making a lot of money, or having a lot of friends. Actually the having friends edged out the working on strictly money.

In regard to aspectual relationships, the most prominent aspect in the top three for each host was the opposition. Squares were not as prominent. If you want to be a talk show host, your most prominent aspectual relationships need to be oppositions. The most common planets in the top three of aspectual relationships of power were The Sun, The Moon, and Mercury. Its safe to say that if you have a prominent Neptune or Mars in the top three aspects you may not make it as a talk show host. Additionally, in the harmonic aspectual relationships, the top three were Sun, Uranus, followed by Mercury.

So what might all this mean.

First of all, I need to define both Power and Harmony.

Power describes the amount of energy that is pushing an individual to act. Any factor in a chart which does not add to the person’s ability to act, and to act successfully, does not add to power.

Harmony/disharmony is a description of the quality of the reaction to the power planets that are pushing one for action in a chart. If the quality is positive, then the personal reaction to the forward movement provided by the power planets is comfortable and enjoyable, and the person enjoys going when s/he is by nature moving. If its negative, then though the person may be quite good at the activity that they do, they may not enjoy it much. When you look at the harmony planets in the chart, you must also look at their power. No matter how much harmony a planet has, or a house has, or a sign has, or an aspectual relationship has, if there is little power, the power planets/signs/houses/aspects will push it aside.

Having both is important though. Those people with the most drive to actions in their charts, and the ones with the most success, will either be people who,

a. by nature, have a power planet/sign/house which also has a high positive harmony,

or

b. have chosen to focus energy in a combination which provides both power and harmony.

Lets look next at the planet structures. We noted that the talk show hosts had dominant powerful Pluto, Sun, or Mercury. A dominant Pluto is someone whose aims in life require the cooperation of others. He will be looking for a benefit for a lot of people, and he will tend to compel others to do what he wants.

A dominant Sun shows a drive for significance and self esteem.

A dominant Mercury show someone who is constantly thinking, tabulating and expressing him/herself.

Clearly, if you are a talk show host, you must be able to project your individuality clearly to the audience(no one confuses the Larry King show with the Jay Leno Show), must be able to keep up withy your guests, no matter what, and you must compel that the program go in your direction and in your way. Larry King is a master at all three, and has both Pluto Mercury, and the Sun in the top three, with the Sun conjunct his Mercury.

With Harmony, we would be looking for planets of Jupiter or Venus in the top three. Having Jupiter in this position will give a feeling that everything will work out, and Venus in a positive mode give a talent for shmoosing the guests into talking comfortably on the show.

Do you have what it takes in your planets?

Houses represent the environment where the actions of the power planets and other planets take place. In 80%, the first house was in the top three, and half of those it was number ONE. For a good talk show host, his or her personal expression the show is paramount. Typically the host will have a song that is identified with them, and a routine that characterizes them. Nothing wishy-washy here. For the successful host, its ALL ABOUT THEM. The second most important in the power category is the 10th house where reputation, and fame are most significant. Successful hosts are going to be CLEARLY IN CHART OF THEIR SHOWS. They will not be controlled by the network handlers or they won’t make it.

Finally, there are the signs. These were not quite as impactful and signature like the others. There was nothing significant in the power area, but the reactions showed a favor in Taurus as a sign, suggesting that possessiveness of the SHOW, and keeping things on a focused track in the Libra mode.

The top aspectual relationships, wherein the opposition was the clear winner is also obvious after having looked at the rest of the chart up to now. Clearly, the successful hosts needed to learn to make choices, and to make successful choices. These continuous yin/yang oppositions trained them in this way. Squares in the top three of aspects were less likely.

So? How many of you are now heading for Hollywood to try out?
