Of What Use Is The Solstice Point?

There are two planets in your chart which drive the actions of all the others: the Sun and the Moon. The Sun provides the individuality which is YOU and the Moon carries
out the changes which YOU need to maintain and sustain your individuality.

Its common that the Moon sustains and manages change, but the Sun has an aspect of change which is in some ways even more significant than the MOON. This is the
solstice point. For the Sun, it is the two points in the year when it changes direction and moves in a new way. Since right now its June 27, we have just experience the
germinal change in the Sun through the seasons back to winter, from the Cancer solstice point. Esoterically, its the high point of the spiritual year, following on an eastern
festival in May called Wesak, to a world Festival called World GoodWill Day.

Taking the lead from this, a planet’s solstice point is its distance from 00- Capricorn or 00-cancer whichever is nearer carried over to the sign on the other side of the
equator. So in a sense its the closest approximation that the planet can make to the sun’s travel. Of course everything happens within the ecliptic of the sun’s path from
00Cancer to 00Capricorn.

This is significant because its the Sun’s change point. In a natal chart, this point shows the place where the planet, if it can make a significant change, is most likely to do so. Its the place where the impact of this change is likely to happen. If Saturn’s solstice point is in the 10th house of careers, expect the changes that impact your life from the standpoint of your basic individuality to happen here first. If you have Mars squaring your Saturn natal Solstice Point, you would have to figure that the cutting impact of Mars is likely to impact changes where discipline is involved. This is another way to look at how one deals with changes, as the moon prebirth planet conjunction.

Or using the pre-birth moon conjunction as an example, If Saturn is the pre-birth conjunction of your moon but Saturn is also conjunct the Mars Solstice point, it will
change completely the way in which you might normally deal with change. For example, Saturn prebirth conjunctors tend to carefully plan what's coming up down to the last detail, and wait patiently for the right moment to jump. However, with a Mars Solstice point sitting on the Saturn(even more than if Mars itself was there), at the last
moment one would expect the person to give all their planning and jump wildly for no reason. We all know people who are like that.

Further, you can solar arc progress the solstice points, to find critical points of change in the future of your life, in a conjunction to a planet, or to the cusp of a house.

Doing astrology without solstice points, loses the richness of change shown by the most important planet in your chart: THE SUN.
