The Moon and Pluto

Let me start by saying that there are many valid interpretations of life. A famous astrologer often commented: “Its not what you know about astrology that’s important, its what you know about life!”

I believe that one cannot really understand how Pluto affects human consciousness unless one also knows how the Moon affects it. I believe that if there was no Moon, Pluto would have much less an effect on both the tides of humanity, and on individual consciousness.

One of the concepts that Horary Astrology brings is an incredible impact to the inter-relatedness of minor events to other events. It remains astounding to me that someone could ask a question and have the time and place of the question actually answer a real event. It has been suggested that Horary can be used as a diagnosis of illness; this is correct, perhaps even more than the promise in a natal chart. The impact of the Names helping us inter-relate with the planets is quite real. And although perhaps none of you have studied esoteric astrology, it is the basis of orthodox astrology---the wellspring from which it comes. The planets are not inert objects, but the physical bodies of Great Lives, which have lesser lives living within them, though not all on the physical planes as they exist on earth.

What is the Moon’s Role, Anyway?

Let’s first look at the Moon. In a few words, WHY DOES IT HAVE SUCH AN ENORMOUS IMPACT?

Its because all of us are beating to the pulse of the Moon and its lunation cycle(see Dane Rudyhar’s Lunation Cycle). It changes by the hour; it affects even the fluids in your body, and even more so the fluid levels in the bodies of women. These changes in women are so ingrained within their hormone cycles that my bet is without the Moon’s existence all life on the planet would cease due to the females of the species being unable to conceive. This is why we equate change with the female. We have comments about the changeability of the female, and how men can never understand women because of their changeability with the tides. Yeah, the tides!! And what causes the tides?

Now.....though men may not be as connected to the Moon as women there is a time when all of us(male and female) share the same intense reaction to the Moon: conception, gestation, and the first few months of life when we are still on Mom’s cycle.

This is physically why the Moon plays such a humongous role in our ability to handle change. As we are getting ready to be born, the influences of the Moon become more and more intense. I believe that this is because, it is actually the Moon’s timing from the conception chart that causes the birth. So everything that conjuncts, squares, or opposes the Moon in those last hours before birth leaves an imprint on our actual physical bodies let alone our psyches. There is reason to believe that the fetus actually chooses the time, and I believe the fetus knows the time via the moon and its interactions with the universe. And this also means that the impacts of the Moon right after birth are just as important, since while we have become a real person now, it literally causes our way of reaching out to the world. Everything about the Moon in the critical last month before birth, and the critical 1st month after birth has everything to do with how we deal with change the rest of our existence in this body.

Thus, everything about the Moon comes into play. The planet the Moon conjuncted most soon before birth, the planet the moon impacted first (by transit) after birth, the actual latitude of the Moon at birth, the solstice point of the moon, Mutual receptions of the Moon, The house placement of the Moon, the house placement of the Moon when it impacted the planet before birth, the house placement of the moon when it impacted the first planet after birth, Impacts of the Moon during the preceding nine months of gestation--particularly eclipses, relationship of the moon the the ascendant and to the ruler of the ascendant, the dignity of the Moon, etc. All of these things must be taken into account if one is to determine how much impact anything has in the chart later. No promise: No future gift.

So......What am I saying about the Moon that is so important here and that you need to understand as you try to perceive the relationship between It and Pluto? THE MOON IS A CONJUNCTION/PARALLEL TO OUR LOWER NATURES. It is our lower nature. It embodies all that constitutes what esotericists call the three-fold Personality: physical/etheric body, the emotional body, and the lower mind(up to the third subplane of the mental plane for those of you who want me to be technical about it).
