Building the Track and Scenery
The table frame was constructed from 2 x 4 lumber, set 16" on center
The table top was made from 1/2" plywood
The table is U shaped to make use of as much of the room as possible
The table is 14 feet long by 6 feet wide and each side is 5 feet long by 3 feet wide
The over pass was constructed from 2x4 wood and lywon plywood
The bridge for the overpass was constructed from 3/4" blue insulation and 1/4" dowls and then painted with acrylic paints
Pictures of the foam, cut to the shape of the rocks
To sculpt the foam use a utility knife and make deep horizontal and vertical cuts
Then pick and scrape at the foam until it looks how you want
It won't look like much but it all comes together after painting
When painting I used watered down acrylics(looks like ink when watered)
Use several layers of different colors to get the look you want
Make sure all the blue in the nooks are covered
because they will show up after painting
Pictures of the foam, after sculpting and painting
Here are a few pictures of the bridge finished
Here are a couple of pictures of the back left corner started
Here are a couple of pictures of my first attempt at trees
I had to redo this corners guard rails to make the corner more fluid
I have a long way to go but it's a start
