Building the Track and Scenery

The table frame was constructed from 2 x 4 lumber, set 16" on center

The table top was made from 1/2" plywood

The table is U shaped to make use of as much of the room as possible

The table is 14 feet long by 6 feet wide and each side is 5 feet long by 3 feet wide

Pictures of the foam, cut to the shape of the rocks

foam rock foam rock

To sculpt the foam use a utility knife and make deep horizontal and vertical cuts

Then pick and scrape at the foam until it looks how you want

It won't look like much but it all comes together after painting

When painting I used watered down acrylics(looks like ink when watered)

Use several layers of different colors to get the look you want

Make sure all the blue in the nooks are covered

because they will show up after painting
