While running for a state committee position in the spring of 1998, I was asked to give a brief statement (less than 50 words) summarizing my views. I think the first two sentences still summarizes our problems.

Our time has been characterized by a ballooning of state and federal governmegovernment into areas intended for families, churches and private organizations. While republican rhetoric promised to return us to limited government, the republican performance is largely disappointing. As a member of state committee, I will work for limited government in fact, not just rhetoric.
