Some of my thoughts and concerns for May of 2005:
You can view the official Township meeting minutes at:

I still have copies of the Fredrick Bastiat book “The Law” available to Maidencreek residents
Baseball Soccer etc:
There are several organizations competing for township fields. There are at least two baseball groups as well as soccer, and football. There is the perception that some groups are not getting fair access to the fields. At the meeting I stated that the township should not be endorsing any specific group, but we should be fair to each group needing these resources. They feel there is bias in the allocation of the fields, and I can understand how they could get that impression. I believe we need a lottery system to allocate the fields. I plan on proposing the following:
In March we send all the groups a scheduling form for them to request the time they desire. We set up the form such that the fields at the park are available for community days, and unscheduled 25% of the rest of the time.
At the end of March, the Township receives the scheduling forms and uses a roll of a die or coin toss to decide on which group gets the field in the event of scheduling conflicts.
The 25% that was not scheduled will be used to allow for spontaneous ball games with neighborhood kids, and will also allow flexibility to schedule rain date games. Organizations that get their scheduled times rained out can request time from the 25% unscheduled time. Also, in the event of conflicts, a coin toss can be used to resolve issues if two groups request the same rain date.
I will propose this lottery method to the other supervisors at the June meeting. I feel this is the best way to eliminate the appearance of bias in the scheduling of the park resources to the taxpayers who ultimately are the ones who paid for the park.
Storm Water:
Many people from Faith Drive showed up at the meeting to complain about the Willow Creek and the water table. We authorized the township engineer to prepare an estimate on repairing some of the erosion damage to the stream bank, and we asked the secretary to look for any availability of grants that may fund a more extensive solution. Last month we upgraded the storm water ordinances. This should improve the Willow Creek in the future, but it will take time before any effects are noticed. See last month's posting for the details on the storm water ordinance improvements.
