August 9, 2001 Maidencreek Supervisor's Meeting:
Storm Water:
On 7/25/01 a slow moving cold front spawned thunderstorms that dumped some 5 - 6 inches of rain in record time on Maidencreek and the surrounding Townships. This storm made it clear to me and many others that our treatment of storm water needs improvement. Township manager,Terry Manmiller, submitted a report on the culverts in the township. Discussion of the issue is available at The Storm Water Zone. This issue will take several months to properly resolve. Therefore, a special page has been reserved for the matter.
Many residents who experienced loss of property due to flood water spoke during the public comment time.
Sewage Ordinance:
It was our intention to vote on this ordinance at this meeting, but there was an oversight and the ordinance was not advertised. This ordinance will allow us to pump out failed septic systems, and bill the property owner. This ordinance is intended to protect the neighbors, who would be at risk of having sewage leak onto their property. I support this ordinance.
Bedrock Stone:
The provisional agreement between the township and Bedrock Stone will expire before the September Meeting. This agreement was intended to allow the owner to begin operation of his business, while he prepared a development plan. He was unable to complete the plan, partially due to concern the business had contaminated a well. The contaminated well was investigated by the state, and it was concluded a faulty septic system was responsible, not the Bedrock Stone business. All three of us voted to give a one month extension on the agreement.
Police Report:
The police solved 5 burglaries with the arrest of 4 people. This was accomplished through their fast response and an observant resident. A thank you goes to both the police, and the resident.
