Welcome to Our Website

We are pleased to welcome you to this Internet aspect of our congregation. Located in the Slate Belt region of Northampton County (PA), about 2 miles east of Route 33 at the Wind Gap exit, we like to think of ourselves as "The Church With A Heart In The Heart Of The Country."

We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), one of 295 congregations of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA. We take our Lutheranism seriously and joyfully, and we welcome you to explore these pages and then to join us in worship and ministry. Our faith is important to us; it is that which gives us direction and purpose in life. And our theological roots help provide the foundation for our sense of who we are. God's grace is a wonderful and surprising gift to us. We'd like to share it with you. You'll find directions to the church building and worship times elsewhere in these electronic pages.

St. Peter's began as both a Union and farming congregation many years ago. We were welcomed by the Reformed Church (you now know it as UCC) in the very early 1800's ---we celebrated our 200th anniversary in 2005; in the mid-1960s we and the UCC congregation parted amicably. While surrounded by farmlands and owing our origins to that culture, we are now a suburban congregation with a dynamic and diverse mixture of members who work to support each other and celebrate the marvelous array of gifts God has given us. Our worship is lively and traditional (with a touch of the contemporary), our faith vibrant and welcoming, our fellowship warm and inviting, and our ministry challenging and filled with opportunities for service.

St. Peter's people, aware of God's blessings of all of us, also think of ourselves as a people called by God to find our way in Christ. If that captures your attention and interest, we invite you to seek us out. Call us, visit us, and join us as we seek to discover God's future for us in this place.
