JOINT BUSINESS MEETING AND SOCIAL EVENT—OCT 26 AND 27TH
On Saturday evening, 27 Oct, following the
Business Meeting, we will have a Buffet
Dinner served at the adjacent Marvelous Muggs Restaurant at about 1800
hrs. Following
dinner Cdr. Wesley Guinn, the current CO of the USS Scranton, will be
our main speaker. The Hon. Christopher A. Doherty, Mayor of
Scranton has also accepted our invitation to attend. * * * The
Buffet Dinner will include the following: For dessert, you will have your choice of Assorted Pies or an Ice Cream Sundae. The
cost of the Saturday Evening dinner will be $19.00 per person and that
includes all taxes and gratuities. * * * Al LaRocca, from Long Island Base, will
have on display in the hotel lobby, two very nice submarine
models. Be sure to check them out! *

There
will be a $10.00 Registration Fee (applicable to Subvet
members only) to help defray
some of the costs of this event, as
done by other Base hosts for this event in the past. *

There
will be a 50-50 raffle which will be drawn at the Saturday
Evening Dinner. Tickets are $1.00 each or an “armful”
for $5.00. There will be two winning
prizes–
each one will be equal to 25% of the total sales. *
* * There are
plenty of attractions to keep the ladies busy while we are at the
business meeting. There
is the brand new Mohegan Sun slot machine gambling facility, located at
the Pocono Downs
Racetrack, which is less than a 10 minute drive from the hotel. There
is also a brand new mall with 74 outlet & high end stores, a huge
movie complex with ‘stadium seating’, and of course the new Sno
Mountain Ski & Outdoor
Complex, all
