CHILDREN HAVE THE RIGHT TO TWO PARENTS

On July 28, 1999, at 8 PM the members and supporters of FACE will gather at the Liberty Bell to hold a candlelight vigil in support of Equal Parents Week.

"A Moment In Our Hearts, A Moment of Solidarity" will be observed through candlelight vigils taking place simultaneously throughout the world uniting our focus on the love we cherish for our families and our determination to preserve our families despite the unjust and devastating effects of child custody and child support orders handed down throughout every city, county, and state in this country. The right of both parents to function as a parent, the right of children to be raised by both parents, and the right of families to exist and function as families, are civil and human rights inalienable to all families, including non-intact families. These rights will not become a reality until every component of our justice systems and local and national governments maximize the ability of both parents to raise and nurture their children and afford children the maximum parenting effort and involvement each parent is willing and able to contribute in raising their children. This is not idealism, this is true joint custody. Until we establish a national priority which mandates that child support guidelines promote the ability of both parents to meet all of their children's needs without imposing financial impediments to nonfinancial child support, and implements a standard of true joint custody, the best parent will not be both parents, and families will continue to be deprived of these civil and human rights.

Please be there!!
