It is absolutely admirable that Sheriff John Durante and Montgomery County have been so successful in rounding up the "deadbeats".

Now that there is a system in place to collect child support it is time to spend an equal amount of time enforcing visitation.

Children not only need to be clothed and fed they also need to grow up with two parents in their lives, even if those parents can not get along.

Children need both parents as spectators to their sporting events. You can not go if you can't get the schedule. Children need both parents at the parent teacher conferences, the holiday parades, the spring concerts. You can not go if you can't get the school calendar. It is very difficult to be the recipient of distain and to be treated as if you don't have the right to ask for information regarding your child. There is rarely a system in place for a non-custodial father to get school pictures. Why?

The purveying attitude continues to be that fathers are some how less a parent than mothers. That they somehow care less about their children.

Father's Day is coming up, now is the time to bring attention to the fathers who pay support and are continually denied visitation, just because someone can. Because the system continues to believe that the only good parent is a female. Who are these woman that proudly where the badge of "single parent". Were they ALL summarily dumped, do they hold no responsibility at all?

Children deserve and have every right to two participating parents in their lives.
