Fuel System

The 10 gallon tank is held down with nylon webbing straps riveted to the sides of the tank pan with backing plates on the inside and outside of the pan.

The front of the fuel tank and pan is supported on the narrow end of a 'v' of tubing beneath the pan. This allows the pan and tank to rock back and forth quite a bit. This photo shows the installation of a piece of sheet metal at "A" riveted to the top front edge of the tank pan, bent over the cross tube above it, and riveted to the crosstube. This braces the front of the pan and eliminates any movement of the tank. Note too the plywood spacers installed along the top sides of the tank pan to fill space there and steady the tank from side to side movement.

The filler cap is temporarily positioned in the filler tube in order to determine where to place the sheetmetal that will support it and to which it will be fastened.

This photo shows the layout of the support for the fuel filler cap at 'A', the Facet auxiliary fuel pump mounted on the large triangular gusset at 'B', and the fuel level sender for the EIS at 'C',.
