We believe in God's Word as being the foundation on which we build our
lives. We believe that no person is better than another, and that we need
each other as part of the body of Christ. We believe that we are called
to minister to those who are hurting, those in need, and those going through
rough situations. We believe that as fellow Christian singles, we can do
more as a group than we could as individuals in meeting the needs of others.
We believe in the Great Commission as given by Jesus, and we strive to
fulfill that commission as we minister to others. And we believe in allowing
God's Holy Spirit to be the driving force in our lives.
Our area also includes lower Northumberland County. We are not restricted
to any one area. Some of our activities draw people from the western and
eastern parts of the state, too.
In October, we have a retreat at Camp Hebron. This we had our 9th annual retreat there. Generally, the devotionals at the retreat are brought by members of the group who enjoy teaching. At the retreat, we always eat well, sleep some, and enjoy the great outdoors. There is a lake for boating, many trails for hiking and biking, and horse trail rides. Some just enjoy sitting around watching, reading, or talking with others. It has been a great way to meet new Christian singles, and to grow in our walk with our Lord.
We try to have several other outings during the year.
This year we also had a camping weekend at Camp Hebron, near the lake. We did our own cooking, and enjoyed the beauty of God's nature.
We also enjoy special dinners. Check our schedule to see when the next dinner is. We have several every year.
During the summer, we also have picnics. It's a great way to spend a Saturday evening, or a Sunday afternoon. Usually we get in some good games of volleyball, or other games. And when everyone brings a covered dish, there's always plenty to eat!
Some Saturday evenings are just "game nights", when we meet at someone's home and bring a game along. We split into groups and enjoy playing games with each other. It's a very relaxed, "let your hair down" evening of fun and food.
When we know of a need, we often pitch in and help in whatever way we can. Some are financial needs. Sometimes someone just needs help moving a piano, or fixing a car, or fixing something in their home. Many times it's an emotional need. Not everyone can help in every situation, but it seems that with this kind of group, there is always someone around who can meet the need, as God provides the means.
And we are always open to suggestions for other activities.
