Most notable is Gray's work on Tarzan.
Tarzan originated in the Edgar Rice Burrough's short story "Tarzan of the Apes", published in 1912.
Several book versions followed, and in 1912 the "Lord of the Jungle" made his
first apperance in a daily comic strip.
In 1930, United Feature Syndicate took over the syndication
of Tarzan and launched it's first Sunday comic in 1931.
The Sunday comic strips have been drawn by Gray since 1983.
Gray enjoyed drawing Tarzan because it is an "Old-fashioned, escapist
adventure strip, the likes of which are rarely seen in today's newspaper strips."
