Rare Bells ring from the 1920's

Very few theatre organ fans know about Wurlitzer saucer bells. According to my research, very few sets were installed in organs.

I have some information on another site, due to storage space problems. click here to go there!!

Click below to read more about a set that was offered for sale during the 1960-1970 era. Also, click to see the original advertisement text, and a color photo of the bells set.

Wurlitzer Saucer Bells are rare percussions for Theatre pipe organs.

a description of the bells (text)

From an old advertisement......"WURLITZER SAUCER BELLS are the rarest Theatre Organ percussion units we know of. Many Wurlitzer items like Brass Trumpets and Saxophones are now in very short supply although hundreds of sets were made. But Saucer Bells were even rare in the 1920's; very few sets were installed. The result is that today most enthusiasts have never seen a set, and one noted authority we quizzed thinks there may be less than five sets in the U.S.

The polished bells range from about 4" diameter for the lowest pitch to 2" for the highest, each equipped with a tube resonator scaled to the speaking note. The bells are polished and in immaculate condition. One bell is missing from the 25 note set which covers 2 octaves, middle to high C. The striking mechanism is much like that of a very heavy doorbell action and operates from organ current. The tone is a full melodic ringing of exceptional brilliance and great volume...."

Hey.....does anyone know anything about these?? Please e-mail me with any information.
