Conewago Goldens began in 1988 when we purchased Sunshine Hill Bit O'Stardust, CD from breeder Elaine Fraze, at seven weeks of age as a pet. We then caught the show bug and went back to Elaine for a show quality puppy. We came home with Abby, who easily became Champion Sunshine Hill's Abbasena . Although meant to be the foundation for Conewago Goldens, she was found to be dysplastic and was spayed and kept as a pet. Sadly, we lost both of these wonderful companions within two weeks of each other to cancer, in April, 2000.
In 1992 we purchased a puppy from Sandy Whicker in Fort Collins, Colorado. We had greatly wanted a puppy sired by Sandy's Ch Elysian Sky Hi Dubl Exposure UDT,MH,WCX ** and were thrilled when (the then 8 week old puppy) Terra, Sky Hi Conewago's Terra, CD , was available. Although not a conformation champion, Terra is a wonderful companion with good structure and a superb temperament. With Terra we have raised two litters. The first litter was sired by Ch Hunts Jefferson (OS/SDHF) . From this litter came our first champion, Ch Hunts Jackson NA, NAJ , owned by Barbara Dismukes, and another standout, Conewago's Dallas CowboyUD, JH ,MX, MXJ, WCX , (Troy) owned by Rick Rovenolt. Troy is proving his abilities in obedience, agility, and the hunt test area of competition. Also from this litter, is our girl, Conewago's Megara,CD , "Meg". Meg is currently competing in Open obedience, and has one leg towards her CDX title. Terra's second litter was sired by Ch Carausel's Midnight Gost , owned by Joyce Ruby, and produced our Corrie .
Our next champion was Ch Hunts Carnival Joy , bred by Barbara Dismukes. Joy was an outstanding bitch who finished her championship, with three majors, on May 31, 1998. She was bred to Ch Lycinan's Sweet William CDX,TD and delivered seven puppies on January 19, 1999. From this breeding we have kept a male puppy, Conewago's Dornblaser, CGC , whom we call Blazer. We also co-own a female, Conewago's Forever Glory CD, OA, AXJ , with Rick Rovenolt (Troy's owner). Unfortunately, we have experienced some health problems with this breeding and neither Blazer or Glory will be bred. Joy has been spayed as well.
On January 10, 2002 we welcomed a new arrival, Lycinan Conewago Mandolyn , bred and co-owned by Cindy Williamson. "Mandy" is a daughter of Can. Ch. Cameo Fifty Seven Chevy and Am. Ch. Lycinan March Madness CDX . This breeding is a blend of outstanding lines from the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Mandy was bred to Syzygy White Cliffs Of Dover , "Winston", and whelped a litter of nine puppies on February 12, 2004. From this breeding, we have kept a beautiful little girl who we are calling Darby .
On September 24, 2004 we had to say goodby to our Joy . She was in congestive heart failure stemming from cardiomyopathy, and it was time to let her go. She is dearly missed.
Mandy was bred to the late Ch. Hunts Tangleburr via frozen semen/surgical implantation. From this breeding we had a litter of three puppies, 2 boys and a girl, born on June 16, 2005. We kept a boy and the girl pup and named them Dalton and Heather (Conewago's Highland Dalton and Conewago's Enchanted Heather). Luke, the other boy, is living nearby in a wonderful pet home with John and Linda Cook and their family.
In June of 2007 we bred Mandy to Ch. Delmarva Tell'M UR Innocent for her, and our, final litter. This breeding produced just one puppy whelped via c-section on August 23, 2007. That puppy is our wonderful boy, Tumble !
