" Columbus' Day celebrates the day Christopher Columbus discovered the
Americas, October 12, 1492 It is sometimes called "Discoverers' Day"
or "Pioneers' Day." It now is a federal holiday observed on the second
Monday of October. Currently, the diversity awareness in the United
States is causing the people realization that Columbus' discovery was
not very good for the natives that lived in America at the time. This
is causing Columbus's Day to lose popularity."
