Rome Township Monthly Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Public Comment
Period:
Residents aired numerous complaints
regarding the winter maintenance activity on several township roads. Questions
were asked regarding the use of salt. There were complaints about the driver’s
speed while cindering. Questions were asked regarding the use of salt, and discussion
regarding repair of rutted areas. The road complaints were heard and Chairman
Hosley stated that it was time to move on with the meeting.
Roy Keiper asked that appreciation be expressed to outgoing
Supervisor, Tod Horton, for his 12 years of service to Rome Township which was
proceeded by a round of applause.
Approval of
Minutes:
Tod Horton made the motion to accept the minutes from the November 6, 2013, regular meeting, Gary Hosley seconded, all agreed, motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
Tod Horton made the motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Gary Hosley seconded, all agreed, motion carried.
Tod Horton made the motion to adopt the 2014 Proposed Budget, John George seconded, all agreed, motion carried.
Road Department
Report:
The weather has presented some challenges with the road
surfaces. There has been significant snowfall, then a thaw, and then heavy
rain. Discussion took place about adding some stone to the real trouble spots
in order to fill in some of the holes and ruts.
Romanik Trucking
John George made the motion to reimburse Walt Romanick $1200
for the heating system he installed at the Battlecreek Road, township garage.
Tod Horton seconded, all agreed, motion carried.
At 7:30 Solicitor Foster asked that the Supervisors go
into executive session to discuss a personnel issue.
The meeting re-adjourned at 8:10 p.m.

Anti-Skid Bid
Opening:
The bids for anti-skid were opened at this time. There were
a total of ten bidders. Tod Horton made the motion to accept the low bid from
Eastern Industries at $10.72 per ton. John George seconded, all agreed, motion
carried.
Adjournment:
Tod Horton made the motion to adjourn and pay the bills,
Gary Hosley seconded, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
