Rome Township Monthly Meeting

John George called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m

No Public Comment.

Guest: Rick Potter

Rick was invited to speak to the supervisors about hiring him to be the Building Code Officer for Rome Township. Initial discussion took place on what would be required to make the changeover from Code Inspections, to Mr. Potter. Mr. Potter will meet with the secretary before January’s meeting to go over the details.

Approval of Minutes:

Ø Roy Keiper made the motion to accept the minutes from the November 6, 2014, regular monthly meeting, and the November 25, 2014, workshop meeting, Ed Wall seconded, all agreed, motion carried

Treasurer’s Report:

Ø Roy Keiper made the motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Ed Wall seconded, all agreed, motion carried.

Ø Roy Keiper made the motion to accept the advertised 2015 Budget, Ed Wall seconded, all agreed, motion carried.

Road Department Report

Ø Had our first snow storm. There was an accident with GMC on an icy road. An incident report was written up and the insurance company has been notified.

Ø Grader has been set up at the Battle Creek garage.

Ø Been talking to people about the old grader. General consensus is that it is not fixable. Discussion regarding hanging on to it for parts. No final decision has been made.

Suit-Kote Contested Invoice

A motion was made to take the issue to the solicitor. An executive meeting will be scheduled with the solicitor.

Meeting Dates for 2015:

Regular Monthly meetings to start at 7:00 p.m. on the following 2015 dates:

January 5^th – Reorganizational Meeting followed by the Regular Monthly meeting; February 10^th; March 10^th; April 14^th; May 12^th; June 9^th; July 14^th; August 11^th; September 8^th; October 13^th; November 10^th; and December 8^th

Workshop Meetings: Start at 6:00 p.m.

January 29^th; February 26^th; March 26^th; April 30^th; May 28^th; June 25^th; July 30^th; August 27^th; September 24^th; October 29^th; November 24^th (Tuesday); and December 29^th (Tuesday)

Roy Keiper made the motion to accept the meeting dates as presented, Ed Wall seconded, all agreed, motion carried. The secretary will advertise the meeting dates.

Meeting Minutes

PSATS UC TRUST ORDINANCE:

PSATS has provided “An Ordinance Authorizing the Participation of Rome Township In The PSATS Unemployment Compensation Group Trust Pursuant To The Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Law.” The quarterly employer portion of the Unemployment tax has been being paid through PSATS for several years. Passing the ordinance is a followup to PSATS UC Trust Ordinance amended in July of 2014. John George suggested that the solicitor look it all over before advertising the ordinance.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH POLICY:

The secretary has been looking into obtaining an Accidental Death Policy for full-time Road Department employees. Tabled until more information can be obtained.

TOOL ALLOWANCE:

The supervisors are looking into possibly putting a tool allowance program into place. Tabled until more discussion can take place.

Ed Wall made the motion to adjourn the meeting and pay the bills, Roy Keiper seconded, all agreed, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
