WORKSHOP MEETING – March 27, 2014
Meeting was called to order
at 7:05
Those in attendance: John
George, Roy Keiper, Ed Wall, Priscilla Keeney
·
John George said he took
a picture of McClellend Road bridge and sent it to the Commissioners. The
county “did a fix,” but John does not feel it is an acceptable fix.
·
Monday (March 31st)
the supervisors are going to spend the day assessing the roads
·
Discussion regarding
road signs in the township. The private lane signs were never billed to the
residents. The feeling is that it is probably too late to go back and try to
bill the costs of the signs, but should put a policy in place for the future.
·
Ed Wall will review the
road sign information and determine what ones are missing and set up a plan to
get all signs installed.
·
Roy Keiper gave a run
down on the status of the township equipment.
Ø
1991 Army Dump Truck –
consider selling it
Ø
Army pickups – sell
Ø
BoMag – sell
Ø
Boom Mower – sell
Ø
Equipment Trailer –
needs some welding work done; no trucks with a hitch to pull it; needs wiring
and hoses
Ø
1985 Army Dump Truck –
don’t know whether to keep it or not; have to chain it up all the time if used
for plowing; could get new tires
Ø
Volvo – needs an
overhaul before next plowing season; box spreader is rusty
Ø
GMC – the box is shot on
it; wiring is messed up; sub frame is rusted; front hubs constant problems –
should think about selling it – perhaps get rid of the pickup and the GMC and
buy a new dual with a flat box.
Ø
Mack – it is a keeper
Ø
The Pickup – need to
replace hubs
·
Roy suggested that the
supervisors consider putting out a bid to contract a tri-axle by the hour for
the summer projects.
Workshop went into Executive Session
to discuss a personnel issue from 7:50 p.m. to 8:10 p.m.
·
Roy will contact Mark
Eidson regarding the status of his employment.
·
Brief discussion
regarding traffic control and extra traffic on Township roads during the Battle
Creek bridge closure. Priscilla will get the name of the PennDot contact to
Roy.
·
Discussion regarding the
status of the road maintenance agreements with the gas companies. John George
will try to find out who the current Chesapeake contacts are.
·
Discussion about
contacting the fire company to see if they would be interested in spraying
water on the roads for dust control this summer and in exchange perhaps give
them some Act 13 money.
·
The furnace is
continually shutting down and Roy has had to hit the reset button to get it
going. Ed said we need to have the furnace cleaned every year. Priscilla will
check into a possible service contract with Williams Oil or Saring Company.
