Trail Name - Shale Run (formerly Split Rock Extension), Length - 0.8, Type - Singletrack Rating - I-2 both directions Description - Fairly rocky at the start (from Grimm's Trail), this trail is level with nice flow through the forest. It starts to descend just enough that you can gain a little speed and have some fun. When you hit the "T" take a hard left turn and you'll be on Preserve Line trail.
Trail Name - Split Rock, This trail is still under construction but can be hiked at this time. Length - 1.5, Type - Hiking only Rating - B-1 to I-1, both directions Description - Trail out the back of the Minnich Hit Picnic Area. Wheel chair accessible to the creek. Then hiking from that point. Stream crossing that still needs a bridge, there is a fallen tree that can be used to get across.
Trail Name - Minnich's Hit, Length - 1.1, Type - Snowmobile Rating - B-1 descent, B-2 ascent Description - A connector trail from the Minnich's Hit Picnic Area that ascends 300 feet to Matter snowmobile trail.
Trail Name - Preserve Line (formerly Scout Cabin, Derailleur, and part of Split Rock Ext)- Length - 1.9, Type - Singletrack and Snowmobile Rating - I-1 descent, I-2 ascent Description - Runs from the lower end of Schreffler Road all the way down the mountain, crosses over Lykens(gravel) Road and continues on up to the end of Shale Run. Fawn Kill Trail 'T's off this trail near the Shale Run end.
Trail Name - Fawn Kill, Length - 2.7, Type - Singletrack Rating - I-2 to A-2 descent, I-3 to A-3 ascent Description - This singletrack runs from Preserve Line Trail (near the Shale Run end), and has a good percentage of rocky sections. Just when you think you cleaned one small section, there's another just ahead. On the 200 ft ascent, these rocks make the climb very challenging. The trail ends at Lykens Road, across from Doc Smith/Bridge Trail.
Trail Name - Rattling Creek (formerly Bridge), Length - 4.0, Type - Singletrack Rating - I-1 descent, I-2 ascent Description - Many folks like to start the loop with this trail as it is the easiest way to start the climb to the top of the mountain. Complete with 6 RCST club built bridges, nice switchbacks, a few short rock gardens and a view of the Lykens reservoir. Some like to ascend, then turn around and descend back down to Lykens road. It joins up with Dry Run Trail.
Trail Name - Dry Run (formerly Jeep), Length - 1.0, Type - Singletrack (old logging road now mostly singletrack) Rating - B-1 to I-1 descent, B-2 to I-2 ascent Description - An old logging trail, mostly singletrack with some double track sections. This is a connecting trail going north to lower end of Schreffler trail, and a bailout shortcut going south to/from Lykens Road. Rattling Creek Trail "T"s off this trail.
Trail Name - Preserve Line (formerly Scout Cabin), Length - 1.2, Type - Snowmobile Rating - B-1 descent, B-2 ascent Description - A bailout or shortcut trail connecting to Lykens Road, descending is fast. Climbing exerts some energy. Trail is used as a bailout, or as a connector to Matter Trail singletrack on the ascent from Dry Run Trail.
Trail Name - Schreffler, Length - 1.4, Type - Snowmobile Rating - B-1 descent, B-2 ascent Description - A long, straight, 250 ft ascent/descent, joining up with White Oak Road at the top of the Mountain. Used when you wanna get to the top and can't expend all your energy on Matter singletrack to get there.
Trail Name - Doc Smith (formerly Balloon String) Length - 2.2, Type - Singletrack Rating - B-2 to I-2, both directions Description - Trail runs from Lykens gravel Road from end of Fawn Kill to the East end of Lykens gravel Road. A couple of rock gardens along the way but a very nice trail for every level of rider.
Trail Name - Rugged (formerly East Loop) Length - 2.3, Type - Singletrack Rating - B-2 to I-2, both directions Description - Trail above the Lykens Reservoir. A rock "bridge" and a large cribwall along with some nice rock outcroppings. Up and down climbing going either direction. A tough, rugged ride.
Trail Name - Stone Cabin (formerly section of East Loop consists of the original hunters trail going straight in to far end of Rugged Trail) Length - 0.5, Type - Singletrack Rating - B-2 to I-2, both directions Description - A Loop above the Lykens Reservoir. A rock "bridge" and a large cribwall along with some nice rock outcroppings make this a nice ride. Some up and down climbing going either direction.
Trail Name - HopBack Length - 1.0, Type - Singletrack Rating - B-2, both directions Description - Trail runs from Lykens Road into the East End Parking Lot. This trail was designed to be ridden from West to East and has many jumps along the way.
Trail Name - Un-named at this time (Trail under construction and suitable for Hiking only at this time) Length - 1.6, Type - Singletrack Rating - A-3, both directions Description - This should complete the singletrack loop and may very well be the last section of singletrack to be built in the trail system. This trail is designed to be ridden from West to East from near the Doc Smith/Fawn Kill trailheads and will climb to the State Game Lands boundary line and then envision a sort of free-ride, very technical, downhill run to hook up with HopBack Trail.
